Web Analytics Glossary

  • Avg. Time on Page: The average amount of time visitors spent viewing a specified page or set of pages.
  • Avg. Visit Duration: The average time duration of a session.
  • Bounce Rate: The percentage of single-page visits (i.e. visits in which the person left your site from the entrance page).
  • Pageviews: The total number of pages viewed. Repeated views of a single page are counted.
  • Pages/Visit: (Average Page Depth) is the average number of pages viewed during a visit to your site. Repeated views of a single page are counted.
  • Unique Pageviews: The number of visits during which the specified page was viewed at least once. A unique pageview is counted for each page URL + page Title combination.
  • Unique Visitors: The number of unduplicated (counted only once) visitors to your website over the course of a specified time period.
  • Visits: The number of visits to your site.
  • % New Visits: An estimate of the percentage of first time visits.

Social Media Glossary

  • Clicks: Recorded interaction of a user with a post.
  • Fans/followers: People or organizations that have “liked” or “followed” our accounts’ posts
  • Hashtag: Simple way to “tag” a post so that it can easily be grouped with others with a similar tag (e.g. #vacoopext)
  • Reach: Number of users who saw a post — combination of fans/followers along with their friends/followers (depends on how viral the post is).
  • Impressions: Times a user may have seen a tweet in timeline or search results.
  • Engagement: The number of times a Facebook post was clicked, liked, shared, and commented on.
  • Interactions: The number of times a Tweet was clicked, favorited, and retweeted.
