Thea Glidden began in her role as the director of communications and marketing for Virginia Tech’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences on Feb. 1, 2011.
In her position, Glidden is responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive, integrated communications and marketing strategy for the college, as well as for Virginia Cooperative Extension and the Virginia Agricultural Experiment Station.
Prior to joining Virginia Tech, Glidden was director of marketing communications for Notre Dame of Maryland University, where she was responsible for the development of, and strategy for, a university-wide marketing, communications, and public relations program. From 2000 to 2009, she served as executive director of communications and public affairs for the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Glidden also directed communications and public affairs for the Johns Hopkins University Whiting School of Engineering from 1997 to 2000.
Glidden received an associate degree in applied science from the Rochester Institute of Technology and a bachelor of fine arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art in visual communication where she taught business communication. In 2010 she completed the Project Management Institute’s program in project management and is a certified project management professional (PMP).
